#obsessed or you know, Procrastination.
Darlings,Happy weekend.I have so much real life work to do right now, so of course instead I've decided that I want to talk about some things I'm kind of obsessed with right now.First of all, have you seen this video?[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnxpHIl5Ynw[/embed]I know Lana is polarizing, but I love her. In fact, if I had to choose only one modern day pop star to spend the rest of my days listening to - it might be her. Not Beyonce, Not RiRi, Lana.I love her vibes, I love her style, I love her lips. I just think she's fucking fantastic.This video is giving me serious Valley of the Dolls feels. I've been trolling etsy all day for a house outfit like hers in this video in the hopes that if I procure one, I might somehow end up in a midcentury Malibu beach house too.In order to live in a Malibu beach house like that, not only do you need an unlimited supply of caftans and kitten heels, you need nails. Good ones.Darlings, you know I'm a lover of a manicure. I feel naked and insecure when I don't have one. And in the past few years, I have become quite the lover of gel manicures. They are so shiny and solid and they make me feel like a gazillion bucks...for the first week at least. One the gel starts growing out, you just look like a hot mess.And it drives me nuts.And without fail, I am too busy to go get it re-done at the exact moment that I need it redone, so I end up peeling it off (I know, I know, nail gods out there. I'm SAAHHRY), which makes my nails brittle and thin and gross and makes me feel insecure and sad.So when I heard about the new Essie product, Gel Setter, I knew I had to try it. It's the first at home gel-ish product that doesn't require a UV lamp. You can use the top coat with any Essie color (and I imagine any other color as well).I have to say, I was pretty blown away with the product. It's a thick top coat, but darlings, it dries really quickly to a shiny and rock hard finish (that's what she said?!)
For $10, I would say it works in a pinch and for all the gel peelers out there, it gives you at least a band aid to work with at home so you don't have to wear gloves in July to disguise your handiwork.And what would a fantastic manicure be with a pair of shoes to go with it? You know, darlings, I always say - from fingertip to toenail, wear what you will, but wear it with intent. And although I may not always look amazing, I always know exactly what I'm doing. Which is why I think nothing goes better with a bright red manicure than a bright red pair of kicks.
So I bought myself a pair of these. Perhaps it's because I've spent too much time in California lately, but my love for Vans has never been stronger. A lady doesn't need to wear heels to be fabulous. I've renewed my appreciation of rubber soled kicks on doctors orders, and I have learned to really love them. And honestly darlings, a cool pair of sneaks can make an outfit look just as chic as a pair of Loubis. I promise.Anyway to me, these SK8-HIs say to the world: Darlings, I love you and I love diamonds but I also love ska, love boys with tattoos (obviously not as much as I love le hubs) and love beers on the beach. And that's kind of where I am in life right now. So I think that these Vans just fucking get it.But darlings, this is not just about fashion. Let's talk about food for a second. Lately I have been just completely enamored by the Herbs de Provence Chevre by Kennebec Cheesery. They are a cheesery from Central Maine who specializes in small batch goat cheeses. And specialize they do.
I don't have much to say about it darlings, which is strange, because I have a lot to say about a lot of things. What I will say is that I have a hard time stopping at a normal size bite of this cheese. It's tangy and luscious. It tastes good on radishes, on bread and off your finger. I know they are working on some kind of ecommerce, but darlings, you know how we are up in here in the northern most state, we take our time.But darlings, now I am off to start dinner and perhaps a cake?So until next time,xoxolcf
